     Melanie Comegys owner and teacher of Tex Sun Yoga School has been teaching adults since 1993, practicing yoga since 1999 and teaching yoga since 2012. It has been a natural progression to bring her corporate teaching and training skills into her yoga classes. She offers Group Classes, Private Sessions, Corporate Yoga, Yoga Workshops and 200 Hour Teacher Training.

     All classes bring a focus to alignment based practice of asana. Classes are NOT hot or heated practices. She teaches basic alignment, flow-vinyasa, gentle yoga, senior yoga, restorative, prenatal, kids, Yin yoga, meditation, mantra, breathing-pranayama, 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training and various workshops.

Group Classes:

     Group classes are taught at public venues. She offers a wide range of verbal cues and hands on adjustments to help practitioners of varying degrees, levels and range of mobility. Classes are held at several studios and recreation centers through out the Houston area.

Private Sessions:

     Private sessions offer the practitioner a personally crafted class aimed at their unique goals for yoga. New to yoga? Get one on one attention to better help you understand basic postures. Working on a specific pose? Receive refinements, tips and tricks that will bring a new level of confidence to your practice. Are you an athlete? Attain skills that will improve your golf swing, run faster longer or Zumba with finesse. Have you sustained an injury? Learn how to add to your current therapy and recovery through yoga. 

Corporate Classes:

     Corporate classes are aimed specifically towards corporate office enviroments. Using poses that assist the practitioners with shoulder, back and hip issues that are sustained during long periods of sitting. Providing practitioners with new skills to help alleviate daily stress through breathing and meditation. 

Yoga Workshops:

     Yoga Workshops provide specialized teaching. Each workshop helps students have a better understanding of the subject being presented. Students engage in intensive discussion and activity on a particular subject or project in order to explore different aspects of the subject that is taught.

200 HR Yoga Teacher Training:

     The 200 HR Yoga Teacher Training program is aimed at practitioners wanting to receive an in depth study into yoga for personal or professional goals. The teacher training provides a deeper look into yoga philosophy, anatomy, yoga poses, precepts and teaching methods that will bring a new level of understanding to the practitioner.


      Melanie Comegys dedicates herself to presenting yoga in a way that is easily understood by students. By this, she creates an inclusive atmosphere for learning and growing. As a natural born leader and teacher, she leads with a focus on learning all aspects of yoga. She believes that yoga encompasses practicing all aspects of the Eight Fold Path throughout the day, every day. To her, yoga is a lifelong practice.

          Through her fun and simple approaches and a hyper focus on alignment students are able to easily grasp the most difficult of yogic concepts, theories and asana practice. She keeps her classes light hearted and enjoyable to help ease tense yogis. She is at her best when inducting new practitioners into the asana practice. She has a realistic approach to ethereal concepts. She presents spiritual information in a way that is relatable and easily understood by most anyone. She is ready to jump into any yogic topic to help provide information to anyone seeking it from her.

          She presents classes that are sometimes funny and irreverent,  a reminder to everyone that yoga is just practice. Melanie will keep things light and never takes herself too seriously. For her the lesson is always to keep things fun and simple. She is passionate in presenting yoga to newcomers in hopes that they will fall in love with some aspect of yoga. Melanie was born and raised in Houston, TX and she is proud of her Texas roots. Her other passions include animal rescue, crafts, meditation and music. She is a certified Reiki II Practitioner, and practices Reiki every day. She is intensely dedicated to her animals, family and home life.

          Melanie’s first yoga class was in September 1999. She signed up for a six week course attending 3 classes a week. It was an introduction to yoga. The style was Alignment based yoga. The very first class there was singing, incense, a gong and some very interesting looking people. The movement was very much like a dance to her and reminded her of dance classes she took throughout high school. The stretching of the body felt good. She was inspired and began to turn towards the practice over and over again. The mind, body and spirit connection that happened during practice was enchanting and called to her daily.

           Melanie specializes in teaching Beginner’s. She approaches most of her classes with a beginner’s mind. She is hyper focused on alignment. She continually approaches the form based physicality of the postures in yoga. All of her classes are based on alignment as in the style of Anusara or Iyengar yoga. Seven of her primary teachers were students of Anusara and Iyengar yoga. She uses technical detailed verbiage to explain the physical postures. Melanie includes everyone in understanding the poses and how to move deeper into the poses. She helps all students create a foundation that they can build upon.

          Melanie loves to attend classes and workshops of all sorts. She sees herself as a forever student and incorporates much of her learnings into her classes. She believes that as we learn more, the more we realize there is so much more learning. Through this growing process she hopes to help her students grow as she brings them the most updated teachings of yoga. She gives her students what she believes is the best yoga knowledge out there to help them become better.  

          Melanie is an E-RYT 200  with Yoga Alliance. She is an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher and has taught over 1000 classes from March of 2012 to March of 2014. She began certification for Yoga Teacher Training in April of 2011 and completion of studies in March of 2012. Studies during the year of yoga training included, but were not limited to: Hatha Yoga, Meditation, Sanskrit, Anatomy, Chakras, Ayurveda, Bhakti/Kirtan, Yoga/Hindu History, Hindu Religion, Prenatal Yoga, Yoga Therapy, Partner Yoga and Anusara Principles of Alignment. 

Yoga Mission Statement

          Melanie Comegys provides education to those who are interested in learning about all aspects of yoga and wanting to commit to a lifelong practice. With a focus on all Eight Limbs of the Eight Fold path, she helps students build a multilayered practice by delivering teachings of yoga to students in a way that is easily understood and relatable to every student in order to form an atmosphere of inclusiveness. She creates a customer service experience to all students in order to foster a community of support for the students furthering their education in Yoga.
